I am writing to advise that as of March 2017, Diane Wake will no longer be the Chief Executive at Barnsley Hospital. Diane has been offered a fantastic opportunity to take up the role of Chief Executive at Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.
Diane has worked at Barnsley Hospital since October 2013 and during that time she has made a real positive impact on the Trust, its staff and patients. Since Diane’s appointment patient safety and quality has improved, infection control rates continue to do well and mortality rates have decreased.
Thanks to Diane’s inspirational leadership she will be leaving the Trust in a strong financial position. Diane led us through a challenging financial period which resulted in the lifting of two breaches of licence, imposed on us by NHS Improvement.
Diane has been an exceptional leader at Barnsley and has made a huge impact on our organisation. I know that Diane has enjoyed every minute of being back here working in the hospital of her home town and she didn’t take the decision to leave lightly.
The recruitment process will start shortly and we will keep you updated on this process via this website.
Diane said of her time here:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barnsley Hospital, I am from Barnsley so it has been absolutely fantastic to work in my hometown hospital. I have not made the decision to move on lightly and Barnsley Hospital will always hold a very special place in my heart. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff of Barnsley Hospital for making me feel welcome from the start and embracing any changes I have made. I really will miss the staff and patients of Barnsley Hospital.”
