Last week, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust held its inaugural Health and Wellbeing Fayre free for all staff to attend and understand what changes they can make to their personal and professional lives in a bid to improve their health.
Staff had access to advice on local services available to them with external stallholders including Be Well Barnsley, Spectrum Community Health, Yorkshire Smokefree, Barnsley Families Information, Recovery Steps Barnsley, Computershare and Barnsley Cycle Boost.
Stallholders provided information on a range of subjects which included mental health, diet, stopping smoking, sexual health, drug and alcohol services, childcare provision, cycle to work schemes and sustainable travel.
A particular highlight was the visit of the Children’s Food Trust who provided a healthy cook and eat demonstration throughout the day.
Event organiser Bernadette Hardware said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who took time out to come along and support the event. The feedback we have received has been very positive and with this in mind we hope to host another event in the near future.
We hope that staff left the event feeling more knowledgeable about how to make a positive change to their health and would like to thank all the stallholders who did an excellent job in both promoting their services and helping our staff learn more on what’s on offer to support their health and wellbeing.”
