Barnsley Hospital’s full time Chaplain Father Peter Needham has been bestowed the honour of preaching at the National Pilgrimage for the Healing and the sick at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in North Norfolk on Monday 28 August.

The Ancient Shrine which dates from 1086 was restored in the 1920’s and is regarded now as the main shrine for both Anglican and Roman Catholic Church in Britain. The Shrine and its establishment is at heart the healing of the whole person.

Having being invited to undertake the enormous honour of preaching at the Midday Mass, Fr. Peter said: “It is a real privilege and responsibility to be asked to preach at this event and I am humbled by the task.

“It’s a big fixture in the religious calendar with thousands attending but there are many who simply enjoy the day out in a beautiful part of the country.”
