Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has successfully installed an upgraded IT system in our Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit as proposed last week.
The switch is an eagerly anticipated step by the Trust which allows us to operate more efficiently by using a single clinical system for patient flow and has been implemented after intensive and rigorous testing.
Having gone ‘live’, patients are expected to remain unaffected by the change but are reminded that the staff that are involved in this transition may remain busy while the adjustment takes place and becomes fully embedded in all their care.
The Trust would like to reiterate it’s thanks to those involved and for patience shown during this time.
Director of ICT Tom Davidson said: “Everything went as well as we expected with the implementation of the system upgrade. A lot of planning and organisation has gone in to the switch and now it’s in operation we’re excited to be working with a system with increased capabilities that will hopefully make life a lot easier. Staff have been trained to ensure that we maximise its installation and we reiterate that we do not anticipate any impact on the patients in our care.”
