A local Barnsley restaurant will be holding a special charity night this month for the first time to raise money for Barnsley Hospital.

On the 25th April Latinos Restaurant will be putting on a three course meal, charity auction and entertainment from Katy Perry Tribute Act – Danielle Williams, in a bid to raise more than £1,000 for ward 32.

Last August co-owner of the restaurant, Kate Sahan’s dad – 67 year old Bill Gallagher became ill and had to undergo emergency surgery at the hospital to remove a cancer from his bowel. He underwent further tests which located another separate cancer on his bladder which was also successfully removed with a second operation.

Bill then spent just over a week on ward 32 at the hospital recovering from surgery.

“The staff on the ward were amazing to my dad. Added to that, they offered great comfort and support to us, his family.

“We wanted to say thank you to them for their care and support and decided that a charity night at the restaurant would be the perfect way to do this. We have supported local charities before by offering vouchers to raffle, but we have never attempted to organise anything this big before.

“We want to raise as much money as possible on the night to provide the team on ward 32 with more oxygen monitors.”

Tickets for the evening on the 25th April are available from Latinos restaurant or by calling 01226 283263. Tickets cost £17.50 per person.
