Commissioners made a decision on Wednesday 28 June 2017 to change the way some children’s surgery and anaesthesia services are provided across South and Mid Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire. Read more here

The first in a series of public consultations regarding Hyper Acute Stroke and Children’s Anaesthesia proposals is this Thursday from 6pm to 8pm at The Core, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW

A panel representing Barnsley CCG and Barnsley Hospital will host the session:

  • Dr Nick Balac – Chair, Barnsley CCG
  • Lesley Smith – Chief Officer, Barnsley CCG
  • Diane Wake – Chief Executive, Barnsley Hospital
  • Dr Richard Jenkins – Medical Director, Barnsley Hospital

Nick will lead the meeting and present the hyper acute stroke proposals. Richard will present for children’s surgery and anaesthesia.

Regional experts will support the panel:

  • Des Breen – regional provider clinical lead for children’s surgery and anaesthesia
  • Tim Moorhead – regional clinical commissioning lead for children’s surgery and anaesthesia
  • Peter Anderton – regional clinical lead for hyper acute stroke services (newly appointed as regional lead)
  • Mandy Philbin – transformation lead, commissioners working together
  • Kate Laurance – commissioning lead for children’s surgery and anaesthesia
  • Linda Daniel – clinical strategy lead, children’s surgery and anaesthesia
  • Yorkshire Ambulance Service representative will also attend
