Barnsley Hospital’s Audiology Department offer a free drop in service for patients who have been issued hearing aids at the hospital.
The clinic is run by two qualified audiologists and two volunteers. Patients are encouraged to call in to the clinic if they need simple repairs to their hearing aids. The type of repairs that can be offered in the clinic includes retubes, new hooks, impressions, and to collect batteries/cleaning wires.
The team can also offer advice on all aspects of hearing and hearing aid care. If the hearing aid is not working via a technical fault, or the care needed is beyond the scope of the facilities at the drop in clinic, a staff member will take details from the patient and arrange an appointment at the audiology department.
The drop in clinics take place from 10am to 2pm on the first Wednesday of every month. From Wednesday 4 April 2018 the drop in service will be moving from its current location of Better Barnsley Shop on Cheapside, to Barnsley Central Library.
Debbie Evans, Specialist Audiology Practitioner, said:
“Patients are encouraged to attend these clinics if they need adjustments to the sound of their hearing aids. If this is the case, they will need to phone the Audiology Department on 01226 432593 before they visit the drop in clinic to tell the audiologist they will be attending.”
