The Olympic Torch Relay arrives in South Yorkshire and will travel though Barnsley on Monday the 25th of June. This will disrupt local public transport in the following ways:

  • Barnsley Town centre – closure of town centre stops with localised diversions – passengers recommended to use Barnsley Interchange between 1130-1400.
  • Lundwood and Hoyle Mill – buses diverted via Burton Road – passengers recommend not to travel between 1320 and 1400.
  • Huddersfield Road – buses diverted onto Gawber Road between 1500 and 1515.
  • Barugh Green and Kebrough – bus delays mainly between 1515 and 1545.

Bus diversions

Local bus services along the route may use localised diversions when the torch passes in order to minimise delay and inconvenience the majority of passengers.

Delays to services will occur but timetables will be maintained as best as possible and where appropriate temporary timetables will be advertised.

Full diversion information/temporary timetables will be available online and localised diversion/temporary timetable information will be posted on the affected bus stops prior to the event.

Minimise delay and inconvenience

To get around these disruptions try travelling at alternative times (set off in good time) or use alternative routes. Also if availing using trams and trains could minimise delay and inconvenience as the torch will only directly have an effect on road users.
