The hospital would like to congratulate the nurses on Ward 14 who were presented with the ‘Hospital Hero’ award at the recent Barnsley Chronicle ‘Proud of Barnsley’ Awards evening (above).

Staff on Ward 14 were nominated by Victoria Slater whose baby sadly died between 12 and 13 weeks. She said the care she received from that point onwards was exceptional and beyond anything she could ever repay.

Nominations are historically for people who go above and beyond to make Barnsley a better place to live and work.

Lead Nurse Gynaecology Inpatient & Outpatient Services Debbie Roman said:

“We were delighted to be nominated.

“And then to win was really pleasing; it was a good night and it’s reward for the whole team.

“We like to look after patients as we would our own families, we’re all really proud.”
