Hospital radio

Barnsley Hospital Broadcasting (BHB) is the voluntary hospital radio service for Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The radio station is based at Beckett House in the grounds of the hospital and broadcasts music, requests, information and football commentary to the patients and staff 24 hours a day.

BHB have been based on site at Barnsley Hospital since 1995 and is a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) HBA website.

BHB is a voluntary organisation and regular fundraising events take place such as a Christmas raffle, tombola and Race Nights in association with Barnsley FC Supporter Trust. All the money it raises is used to improve the service they provide to the patients of the hospital.

Why not volunteer?

We welcome volunteers at the station but volunteering doesn’t just mean sitting and playing a few of your favourite records.

If you want to be a presenter you will also undertake ward request collecting duties shadowing a current presenter first, before being trained up on the equipment and allocated a time slot as and when you have passed the training course.

We also welcome volunteers who want to help with other tasks besides presenting such as helping collect ward requests or fundraising. The only thing we ask for is your regular commitment of 2-3 hours per week, usually one evening on a regular
basis.

Interested? Why not download our application form (Word format) and send this to Martin (martin.sugden@bhbonline.co.uk) for processing or for more information telephone 01226 432125.
