Cancer services works across Barnsley to support the many different kinds of cancers which are diagnosed and treated within the Trust.

We have a lead manager/service improvement facilitator, lead cancer nurse and a lead clinician who work together across the Trust in order to provide Barnsley residents with the highest quality cancer services.

The different kinds of cancers – or tumour groups – currently managed in Barnsley are:

• Breast
• Colorectal
• Dermatology
• Gynaecology
• Haemato-Oncology
• Head and neck
• Lung
• Upper gastro intestinal
• Urology

Each of these cancers has a team of experts who attend multi-disciplinary team meetings where decisions are made regarding the care and treatment of cancer patients.

Barnsley is a cancer locality within the North Trent Cancer Network and as such works closely with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals – the cancer centre – to ensure Barnsley residents are provided with timely and appropriate care in the best setting.
