Children may attend the hospital for a wide range of tests which may include blood tests and X-rays, scans and many other special investigations.

The whole children’s services team is supported by a dedicated children’s phlebotomy service who are skilled at taking blood samples from children. It is recognised that it can be difficult taking blood samples from very tiny babies and where children are extremely anxious. We utilise the skills of the play team and use local anaesthetic medication to numb the area where blood is being taken thus making it less traumatic for the child Investigations.

The x-ray department is located in the ground floor next to the emergency department.
