We also offer two further specialist clinics for pregnant women:

Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit

Patients who experience early pregnancy bleeds will be referred here to undergo ultrasound assessment and biochemical testing to check the progress of the pregnancy.  The service is currently only available during week days but in the future we are hoping to offer our ultrasound service out of hours and at weekends for added convenience and peace of mind.

Termination of pregnancy

This service is led by nurses with a consultant.  The service is available five days a week via a GP referral.  Patients requesting to end a pregnancy will be seen and assessed and if the pregnancy is below 16 weeks, various options are discussed.  Pregnancies exceeding 16 weeks are advised on alternative services to access.  Children who are pregnant are dealt with on a case by case basis.  The clinic can offer advice on contraception and family planning.
