Working at Barnsley Hospital

Barnsley Hospital relies on the strength and expertise of its staff in building professional excellence and organisational performance.

The Learning and Development department at Barnsley Hospital is one of the largest in the region and has a wide range of courses and training sessions designed to help you develop your career.

All staff undergo a detailed local and corporate induction on arrival at the Trust followed by a statutory training programme agreed with your line manager which will cover a mixture of clinical and non-clinical topics that will assist you in your role.

Each member of staff is given a personal development plan that forms the basis for determining what additional training you might need but also measures your performance for pay increases and promotion opportunities.

Policies

We have a number of policies in place to help and guide our staff at work.  Some of these are listed below but if you apply for a post and have any specific queries, please direct them to the contact on the job listing or at the interview if you are shortlisted.

Family friendly policies

The family friendly policies have been designed following feedback from our staff and include carer leave, urgent domestic leave and parental leave, as well as maternity leave.

Relocation expenses and support policy

The Trust operates a relocation expenses and support policy, which is applicable under certain circumstances.

Improving working lives

Staff from different disciplines across the Trust are involved in decisions and discussions about their working life including flexible working, equality and diversity and communications.

Pension

All our staff are entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme. For more details go to their website (www.nhspa.gov.uk).

Car parking

On site car parking is available, but it is limited. The Trust operates a car park permit system and parking charges apply. We encourage staff to car share or consider greener options such as walking or cycling to work.

Equality and diversity

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and fair treatment to all applicants regardless of race, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, marital status, mental or physical disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age or offending history.

The information that you provide on your equal opportunities monitoring form during the application process will not be used in any way in determining whether you should be invited to interview or made an offer of employment.
