There is no longer no a legal requirement for us to provide an annual equality report. However, we will still provide evidence of our equality monitoring and subsequent actions and engagement, in another format.
Below is an equality report which will provide you with an update on how we prepared for the Equality Act and also other equality information as key requirements as a part of our Public Sector Equality Duties (otherwise known in short as PSED).
Annual Equality and Diversity Report
The NHS constitution, published in January 2009 and agreed by parliament, sets out a number of commitments and pledges to its staff. There are six commitments. These are regarded as enforceable and legal rights.
Commitment 4 of the NHS Constitution identifies; Staff will be treated fairly equally and free from discrimination.

The Equality Act 2010 will become law from October 2010. It will, for the first time, give the UK a single Act of Parliament, requiring equal treatment in access to employment as well as private and public services, regardless of gender reassignment, race or religion or belief, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity and age.
