Would you like to be part of a ward team, providing support to patients, carers, visitors and staff? Can you commit to at least 4 hours per week? If so, then the Enhanced Support Volunteer role is for you.

Here at Barnsley Hospital, our vision for volunteering is to enrich the experience of patients, visitors, and staff and to use our volunteers to help shape the way in which we provide care.

What might I be doing as an Enhanced Support Volunteer?

  • Greet patients, staff or visitors on arrival
  • Support patients at meal times
  • Provide End of Life support to patients
  • Provide support for patients with dementia
  • Support virtual visiting by facilitating phone/video calls between patients and relatives.
  • Provide companionship – Visiting/chatting/reading/activities with patients who may not have visitors.

Full training will be provided for all of the above roles. So if you are looking to expand your skill base, gain valuable experience for your CV, or enjoy helping out in a varied role, then this is the opportunity for you.

Parking expenses/travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Regular commitment of a minimum of 4 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, 8am – 12pm / 12pm – 4pm
