Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, Barnsley and Rotherham Diabetic Eye Screening have suspended all routine eye screening and slit lamp screening until further notice. Individuals with diabetes who were due for screening or become due for screening during this suspension will be reviewed and recalled as soon as possible, when the service is in a position to resume screening appointments.

A small number of individuals with diabetes still require eye screening. This applies for anyone whose last screening outcome was a recall less than 12 months in duration. We will attempt to contact anyone who falls into this category to discuss an appointment, as well as all those who already have an appointment booked, which has now been cancelled. Please be patient with us, as this may take some time due to the volume of appointments we had scheduled.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, or are in any doubt whether you, or a person in your care, require a Diabetic Eye Screening appointment, please feel free to contact the service by email on barnsandrothdess@nhs.net or by phone on 01226 434576 or 01226 434577.
