Energy team turn on the style to take home award. Barnsley Hospital have won a prestigious gong at this year’s Public Sector Sustainability Awards at the ExCel Arena in London. The Trust scooped the “Most Sustainable Public Sector Organisation” in Health/NHS category presented by Lord Redesdale. Energy & Sustainability Manager Mohammed Sajard paid testament to the work of the hospital in continuing to reduce our carbon footprint, he said: “Our award was won for the work we have been doing on improving the Trust’s environmental performance through carbon reduction, delivering sustainability initiatives, staff engagement, work around cycling schemes and many other areas. “It was noted by the judges that the award was “hotly contested” and we were in good company. “This award is in recognition of the contribution that members of our Sustainability Sub Group have made in delivering our Sustainable Development Management and Actions Plans.” In addition the Trust were also runner-up in the “Contribution To Sustainable Travel – Organisation Category” award for our work on the cycling schemes at this year’s National Sustainable Travel Awards by Modeshift at Sheffield’s Town Hall.
