On Monday 9 November, the Phlebotomy Outpatients Department relocated to The Cudworth Centre, Carlton Street, Cudworth, Barnsley, S72 8SU. Contact numbers will remain the same.

This move improves our ability to support Government social distancing guidance to protect our vulnerable patients who require vital blood tests.

The new location not only has more available car parking, but will also allow the service to increase capacity which will help reduce waiting times for patients.

The Phlebotomy Outpatients service will continue to be an appointment based system for adult patients.

Patients with an existing appointment do not need to re-book as their appointment will automatically transfer to the new location. They will have been contacted by letter or SMS with an instruction to attend The Cudworth Centre rather than the Roundhouse.

Patients under the age of 16 who require a blood test are to continue to contact the Paediatric Outpatient Department on (01226) 434966 or (01226) 435205

Hopefully this will be a temporary move as we recognise the location is not ideal for all our patients. We continue to explore options for a more centralised location.

Making an appointment

If your consultant or GP has asked you to have a blood test at the hospital Phlebotomy Department you will now need to make an appointment. Call 01226 433963 to book a slot. The line is often very busy, but please do not try to contact the department on any other number. This is the only number that appointments can be booked on.

Current waiting times for appointments is in excess of two weeks so please ensure you call to book an appointment as soon as you know you need one.

If you have an existing appointment booked for a blood test at the hospital Phlebotomy Outpatients, please instead attend the Roundhouse Centre at your appointment date and time.

Patients under the age of 16 who require a blood test should continue to contact the Paediatric Outpatient Department on (01226) 434966 or (01226) 435205

We share The Cudworth Centre with other healthcare providers who will not be able to help you with any enquiries about our service.
