Work has begun on the redevelopment of our Women’s Services Block. This development is a precursor to the relocation and development of the new Neo Natal Unit which has been part funded by the Barnsley Hospital Charity Tiny Hearts Appeal.

A site compound will be situated in the car park in front of the Women’s and Children’s Department for the duration of the redevelopment.

Pedestrian access from Pogmoor Road will be maintained during the works although unavoidably, approximately 6 car parking spaces will be made unavailable.

Teams based in the block will be relocated throughout the next couple of weeks. Telephone numbers will remain the same as they were, and staff at the reception will be happy to help you find where you need to be.

Throughout the building works there will lots of activity and significant vehicle movements in the area directly in front of the block. We remind patents, visitors and staff to be extra careful and look out for other people when walking or driving in this area.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused as we undertake this significant upgrade to our facilities.

What are you intending to do with the vacant first floor?

    Hi Mike,

The O Block refurbishments is part of the enabling works for the development and relocation of our Neo-Natal unit. Barnsley Hospital Charity launched it’s Tiny Hearts appeal in September 2014 to raise a Million pounds to support this project. The new unit, located on the first floor, will be on the same level as the Barnsley Birthing Centre which means that babies will not be exposed to different environments and different temperature changes. Thank you
