Pathology services at Barnsley Hospital are part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology partnership.
Please contact staff at GHNT for queries regarding:
- the service
- any IT issues (Gateshead ICE)
- supplies (vials, documentation, transport bags)
Supplies are no longer distributed by Barnsley Hospital’s Pathology Department.
Community Cervical Cytology (LBC) samples will be collected directly from GP practices and community cervical sexual health clinics, by the GHNT courier service. These samples will no longer be sent into our Pathology Department for collection.
Hospital generated LBC samples such as colposcopy and gynae outpatients, will be delivered directly to Histology at Rotherham Hospital. They will be collected by the GHNT courier service from this central point.
Important - please note the technology used for testing has changed from Surepath to Thinprep.
Samples collected in Surepath vials can no longer be accepted and analysed.
