Before coming to Barnsley Hospital as a student you should have received an email from the Student Support Team. If you have not received this email please contact our support team on 01226 432246 or studentsupportteam@nhs.net

Induction

On the first day of placement, you should come to the Student Support office to sign in. We live in Student Support HQ on the first floor of Beckett House (Block 1), above Human Resources.

You will be invited to an induction during the first week of your placement with us. Dependant on your profession, this may be a 1:1 with a Practice Educator or a larger corporate induction. We do prefer students to have had a few days on placement prior to induction in order to provide a platform for questions and queries. This does not replace your local induction which should take place on your first day of placement in your clinical area.

For year 2 and 3 nursing students, if your placement includes moving and handling you must receive an update locally from your mentor on the equipment used in that department and the trust policies and procedures.
