Doctor strikes: Tue 19 to Sat 23 Sep
For the first time in NHS history, Junior doctors and Consultants will take industrial action on the same day (20 September), so it is vital that the public continue to use services wisely.

The British Medical Association (BMA) and the Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) have announced Consultants and Junior Doctors will take further strike action this month.
Strike action begins at 7am on Tuesday 19 September and will continue until 7am on Saturday 23 September.
During this period we will prioritise resources to protect emergency treatment, critical care, neonatal care, maternity, and trauma. We will only reschedule appointments and procedures where it is necessary, and will rebook immediately where possible. Unfortunately, these strikes will have a significant impact upon planned and routine care.
If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned. The NHS will contact you if your appointment needs to be rescheduled due to strike action.
The NHS is asking patients to choose services wisely during industrial action and take simple steps to help ensure care is available to patients who need it most. This includes using 111 online as the first port of call for health needs and continuing to only use 999 if it is a life-threatening emergency.
It’s very likely disruption to services will continue through the weekend following the strike action, and possibly into the next week, so please bear with us if this is the case. We thank you for your patience and understanding, and would like to reassure you that, as always, patient safety remains our absolute priority throughout the Trust.
