Help us to improve stroke care

Barnsley Hospital is taking part in a national survey to find out what patients think about their stroke care.

A doctor talks to a patient.

It is part of a national programme to improve stroke patients’ experiences while in the hospital and receiving community therapy. It is the first survey of its kind and is a partnership project between the Stroke Association and NHS England.

Listening to stroke survivors is important.

It helps us to understand what is working well and where improvements can be made to stroke services. Your answers will help to shape stroke care, treatment and therapy in the future.

The survey is run by an independent company, under a signed agreement with NHS England in partnership with the Stroke Association.

Section 251 support has been recommended by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care following advice from the Confidentiality Advisory Group (CAG), which is an independent advisory group which includes lay representation. This allows Trusts to share your details without your consent.

Regulation 5 of the 2002 Control of Patient Information Regulations provides a lawful basis for processing confidential patient information for medical purposes. If you have opted out via the National Data Opt Out, your information will not be disclosed by Barnsley Hospital.

From 20 October 2022, the paper survey will be posted to everyone who had a stroke between the 16th of May 2022 and the 16th of September 2022.
