ISS Facility Services provide a traditional plated cook and serve meal system for patients staying at Barnsley Hospital. Nutritious and balanced meals are provided from menus which have been designed in conjunction with ISS and Trust Dieticians.

We have a number of menus available to meet the different needs of our patients. These include:

  • Standard Menu (14 day cycle) includes:
    • Vegetarian
    • Softer Options
    • Higher Energy
    • Healthier Eating
  • Coeliac
  • Finger Food
  • Vegan
  • Cultural (Kosher/Halal)
  • Dysphasia
  • Other specialised diets can be provided as prescribed by our Dieticians.

On most wards you will be able to choose your own meal, no more than one meal in advance.

Our standard menu includes a continental breakfast including Danish Pastries, toast and porridge.  For lunch and supper we offer a selection of hot and cold meals (please see menus below).

Patient-Menu

Hot drinks or squash is served 7 times per day and biscuits provided as snacks.

Each ward has a comprehensive food allergen information file which contains details of allergens contained in all our patient meals. Should you require this information, please ask a member of the nursing team.

If your stay with us exceeds two weeks then we can make special arrangements to ensure we provide an extended menu choice.

We are always very happy to receive patient feedback to ensure we provide the best possible service. Ward catering surveys are conducted on a monthly basis and we endeavour to respond to comments within 24 hours.

Members of the catering management team are always available to answer any questions regarding your food during your stay in hospital. Contact telephone numbers are available from ward nursing staff on request.
