Acute Pain Management

Acute post operative pain management, pain medicine, pain control or algiatry, is an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those with acute pain.

Who do the Acute Pain Team see?

The Acute Pain Team will review patients who have been to theatre and have Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Patient Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA) insitu.

This service covers inpatient general surgery, orthopaedic and gynaecology.

This inpatient service is a resource to minimise acute pain.

The service operates from 8 am to 4 pm, 5 days per week. The team can be contacted on AP 6000, via the main hospital switchboard.

Acute Pain do not see chronic pain patients, or outpatients.
