Self-referral to antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy Current About you Pregnancy your medication FYI and you Complete If you are pregnant or in the first year postnatal you can self-refer to physiotherapy for the following:Pregnancy related hip, pelvis or back pain including sciaticaDiastasis recti (tummy muscle separation)Vaginal prolapse (heaviness/dragging in the vagina)Urinary incontinence (having to pass urine more frequently/urgently or leaking when you cough, sneeze or exercise)Faecal incontinence (not being able to hold wind or faeces)Obstructive defecation (difficulty emptying your bowels)Vaginal pain or tightness (for example during sex or examinations)Carpal tunnel syndrome related to pregnancyFrom 20 weeks pregnant we see women who have a first degree relative (mother or sister) who has incontinence or prolapse.
