We have an on-site restaurant, Collier’s Restaurant, where you can find an array of hot and cold food served 15 hours a day. Collier’s caters for a variety of dietary requirements and staff receive a discount of 10% on presentation of their staff identification badge. There is also a Starbucks Coffee situated within the eatery.
We have a coffee shop in near our outpatients entrance run by our dedicated hospital volunteers. Our coffee shop offers a range of teas, freshly ground coffees, fruit juices, soft drinks, crisps and snacks as well as toast and toasted teacakes.
There is a WHSmith news agent, based near the main entrance of the Hospital, which stocks newspapers, magazines, snacks, confectionery, drinks and toiletry essentials. This store is open seven days a week. Other shops located within the main hospital building include two shop units on the ground floor, at the entrance to the Outpatients Department. These are occupied by the Barnsley Hospital Charity and a range of different pop-up shops selling everything from jewellery and fashion to kitchenware and groceries.
There is a post box and a cash machine situated in the main entrance of the Hospital building, the cash machine is free to use and withdraw.
Occupational Health and Health & Wellbeing
Barnsley Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service is staffed by Doctors and Nurses trained in occupational health. It operates as an independent unit giving impartial advice to management and employees about the effects of work on health and health on work.
The team liaise closely with other healthcare professionals especially infection control, health & safety, genitourinary medicine, physiotherapy and back Care. They can advise on appropriate job placement, assess health hazards, undertake screening and provide health surveillance within the workplace.
The Health & Wellbeing Team are in place to look after the mental health and emotional wellbeing of staff. There are currently two Mental Health Practitioners employed by the Trust to provide early intervention and preventative work for staff experiencing mental health problems.
As well as looking after the mental health of staff the Health & Wellbeing Team can advise on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The learning and development team can offer advice and support to access wide ranging
development opportunities, whether this is for your own continuing professional development, qualifications to gain career progression, management and leadership qualifications, vocational qualifications and clinical skills. We are also proud to support the national apprenticeship scheme, offering work experience and high quality training in a range of subjects.
Our champions come from all areas across Trust directorates and departments, and work to support staff and patients and ensure that the Trust is compliant with the NHS EDS system.
The Diversity Champions meet four times a year as a forum. The role of the Diversity Champion is to keep their directorate/department informed of recent developments in current equality and diversity matters via their team meetings and team briefs, as well as promote equality in all aspects of care and service within the Trust.
Temporary accommodation may be available to staff depending on circumstance. We have an agreement with the Ramada Encore Hotel, which is situated close to the Hospital, which provides discounted rooms for staff. We have accommodation situated on site available for staff covering on-call rotas.
