As part of Barnsley’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2014 to 2019 we are commited to working together to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Barnsley.
What is the Health and Wellbeing Strategy?
Barnsley faces some significant health challenges. People are living longer, but we are expecting to see a rise in the number of people with one or more long-term conditions, placing extra demand on the health and social care system.
Barnsley’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy is set within this context, and sets out how key health partners within the borough will work together to produce better health and wellbeing for the people of Barnsley.
The Trust will play a key role in this strategy which focuses on three main areas in 2014/15:
- Tansforming the models for service delivery across health and social care.
- Focusing on self-care, by promoting universal information and advice, and sign posting people earlier to a range of community based support.
- Combining earlier intervention with greater use of short term / targeted interventions.
The Trust will be contributing to the above areas not just through its membership of the Health & Wellbeing Board but through membership of several Programme Boards that support its work.
