First Patient Randomised to EndoNET Breast Cancer Trial

EndoNET is a multi-centre trial that evaluates whether endocrine treatment that prevents the production of oestrogens, when taken for 6 months prior to surgery, will shrink the tumour allowing for a reduction in the extent of surgery.

Turn around times

Turnaround times are based on the average time from receipt of sample to time of report. We aim to get 90% of results available in this stated time.

Using microbiology services

The microbiology laboratory can help to; provide or confirm a diagnosis, suggest appropriate antibiotics and monitor response to treatment.

Mortuary Services

The Mortuary at Barnsley Hospital is situated approximately 50 metres from the Pathology block - across the Hospital perimeter road.

Cervical cytology

In January 2020, cervical cytology was relocated from Barnsley Hospital to Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT).
